  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/3 cup apple cider
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon apple pie spice
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • For Topping: 3 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1.5 teaspoons cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Melt the unsalted butter in a small saucepan over low heat, then stir in apple cider and set aside.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and apple pie spice.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together granulated sugar and egg with the butter-cider mixture until well combined.
  5. Gently mix wet and dry ingredients until just combined; avoid over-mixing.
  6. Prepare a donut pan by spraying it with cooking spray.
  7. Pipe or spoon batter into molds and bake for about 7 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Allow donuts to cool slightly before dipping them in melted butter and rolling in the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
