  • 1.8 kg Russet or Yukon Gold potatoes
  • 3 garlic cloves (optional)
  • 75g melted salted butter
  • 240ml hot milk
  • Salt and pepper to taste

  1. Boil Potatoes: Peel and quarter the potatoes (and garlic, if using). Place them in a pot of cold, salted water and bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
  2. Dry and Mash: Once tender (15-20 minutes), drain the potatoes and return them to the pot to dry for two minutes. Add melted butter and mash until smooth.
  3. Finish and Season: Gradually mix in hot milk until you achieve a creamy consistency. Season with salt and pepper to taste before serving.
