Ingredients

  • 2 lbs apples (preferably Gala, Fuji, or Cortland)
  • 10 cups water
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 4 inches fresh ginger
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 2 teaspoons black peppercorns

Instructions

  1. Wash and quarter the apples, removing cores (leave skins on).
  2. Instant Pot: Combine apples, ginger, brown sugar, cinnamon sticks, black peppercorns, and water in the pot. Lock the lid and cook on high pressure for 18 minutes. Manually release steam.
  3. Stove Top: In a stock pot, combine all ingredients. Bring to a boil, lower heat and simmer for about 30 minutes until apples are soft.
  4. Strain tea into a pitcher using a fine mesh sieve.
  5. Allow to cool completely at room temperature before storing.
