  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano, divided
  • 2 teaspoons dried thyme, divided
  • 6 tablespoons butter
  • 1 cup yellow onion, diced
  • 1 cup sliced carrots
  • 1 cup sliced celery
  • 5 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 tablespoons flour
  • 8 cups chicken broth
  • 8 oz uncooked elbow macaroni
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 8 oz sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 teaspoon white balsamic vinegar
  • Kosher salt
  • Fresh cracked pepper
  • 4 sesame seed buns, diced into 1-inch pieces
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Sliced green onion, for garnish
  • Shredded cheddar cheese, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F. Toss diced sesame seed buns with olive oil and bake for about 10 minutes until crispy.
  2. In a large pot over medium heat, brown ground beef seasoned with salt and pepper.
  3. Sauté onion, carrots, celery in the same pot until tender.
  4. Stir in garlic and herbs; cook for an additional minute.
  5. Sprinkle flour over veggies; stir well and cook for another minute.
  6. Deglaze with a splash of chicken broth; then add remaining broth and macaroni.
  7. Simmer gently for 5-7 minutes until pasta is al dente.
  8. Mix in heavy cream and cheddar cheese until creamy, then return beef to pot.
  9. Serve hot topped with croutons and garnishes.
