  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1 tablespoon whole grain mustard
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 stalk celery (finely chopped)
  • 1 shallot (chopped)
  • 1 jalapeno pepper (chopped) (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh chopped parsley
  • ½ cup mayonnaise (for sauce)
  • 1 tablespoon whole grain spicy mustard
  • 1 tablespoon favorite hot sauce (for sauce)
  • 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
  • ¼ cup pickled jalapeno peppers
  • 1 tablespoon diced celery (for sauce)
  • 1 teaspoon Cajun seasoning (for sauce)
  • Juice from half a lemon (for sauce)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix half the panko breadcrumbs with Cajun seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  2. In another bowl, whisk together beaten eggs, mayonnaise, hot sauce, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, celery, shallot, jalapeño (if using), parsley, and crab meat.
  3. Combine wet ingredients with dry ingredients gently folding in remaining panko until well mixed.
  4. Shape mixture into patties and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  5. Heat butter in a pan over medium heat; cook crab cakes for 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown.
  6. For the creamy sauce: blend mayonnaise, mustard, hot sauce, vinegar, pickled jalapeños, diced celery, Cajun seasoning, and lemon juice until smooth.
