  • 12 oz halal chicken sausage, sliced
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup dry orzo pasta
  • 2 cups low-sodium chicken broth
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 cups broccoli florets (fresh or frozen)
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced chicken sausage and cook until browned for about 5 minutes.
  2. Remove the sausage and add diced onion to the same pan. Sauté until softened (2–3 minutes), then add minced garlic and cook until fragrant.
  3. Stir in the dry orzo and toast for an additional minute.
  4. Pour in chicken broth and milk; bring to a gentle simmer. Cook for about 8 minutes until most liquid is absorbed.
  5. Fold in broccoli florets and return the sausage to the skillet; cover and steam for 3–4 minutes until broccoli is bright green.
  6. Off heat, stir in Parmesan cheese until melted and creamy. Season with salt and pepper as desired.
