  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1 (14 oz) can sweetened condensed milk (room temperature)
  • ½ teaspoon peppermint extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 ½ cups white chocolate chips
  • ½ tablespoon unsalted butter (for the white chocolate layer)
  • ⅓ cup sweetened condensed milk (room temperature, for the white chocolate layer)
  • ½ teaspoon peppermint extract (for the white chocolate layer)
  • 12 drops red gel food coloring
  • ½ cup crushed peppermint candies or candy canes

Instructions

  1. Line an 8×8-inch square pan with parchment paper, leaving overhang for easy removal.
  2. In a heatproof bowl over simmering water, combine semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips, unsalted butter, and sweetened condensed milk. Stir until smooth.
  3. Remove from heat and fold in peppermint extract and a pinch of salt.
  4. In another bowl, melt white chocolate chips with unsalted butter and sweetened condensed milk over simmering water until smooth. Stir in peppermint extract and red gel food coloring.
  5. Pour three-quarters of the chocolate mixture into the lined pan, spreading evenly. Drop spoonfuls of the white chocolate mixture on top and swirl gently with a knife.
  6. Sprinkle crushed peppermint candies over the top and press down slightly.
  7. Refrigerate for at least 3 hours or overnight until set.
  8. Lift fudge out using parchment overhang, cut into squares, and enjoy!
