Ingredients
  

Turkey Burger Mixture
  • 1 lb ground turkey preferably lean
  • 1 medium apple peeled and grated
  • 1/4 cup onion finely chopped
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley chopped
Burger Toppings
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese optional
  • 4 whole burger buns whole grain recommended
  • 1 cup lettuce washed and dried
  • 1 tomato sliced
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise optional

Method
 

Prepare the Turkey Mixture
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine ground turkey, grated apple, chopped onion, garlic powder, salt, black pepper, and parsley. Mix until well combined.
  2. Form the mixture into 4 equal patties.
Cook the Burgers
  1. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
  2. Place the patties on the grill and cook for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  3. If using cheese, add a slice on top of each patty during the last minute of cooking to melt.
Assemble the Burgers
  1. Toast the burger buns on the grill for 1-2 minutes.
  2. Spread mayonnaise on the bottom half of each bun, add lettuce, the turkey patty, sliced tomato, and top with the other half of the bun.
