Method
Prepare the Pasta
- Cook the bow tie pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
Make the Meat Sauce
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef with chopped onion and minced garlic until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 15 minutes.
Prepare the Cheese Mixture
- In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, half of the mozzarella, Parmesan cheese, and egg. Mix well.
Assemble the Lasagna
- In a 9x13 inch baking dish, spread a layer of meat sauce on the bottom.
- Layer half of the cooked pasta over the sauce, followed by half of the cheese mixture, and another layer of meat sauce.
- Repeat the layers, finishing with meat sauce on top. Sprinkle remaining mozzarella cheese over the top.
Bake
- Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Let it cool for 10 minutes before serving.
