Ingredients
  

Pasta
  • 12 oz bow tie pasta uncooked
Meat Sauce
  • 1 lb ground beef or Italian sausage
  • 1 cup onion chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 can crushed tomatoes 28 oz
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
Cheese Mixture
  • 15 oz ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese shredded
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese grated
  • 1 large egg

Method
 

Prepare the Pasta
  1. Cook the bow tie pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
Make the Meat Sauce
  1. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef with chopped onion and minced garlic until browned. Drain excess fat.
  2. Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 15 minutes.
Prepare the Cheese Mixture
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, half of the mozzarella, Parmesan cheese, and egg. Mix well.
Assemble the Lasagna
  1. In a 9x13 inch baking dish, spread a layer of meat sauce on the bottom.
  2. Layer half of the cooked pasta over the sauce, followed by half of the cheese mixture, and another layer of meat sauce.
  3. Repeat the layers, finishing with meat sauce on top. Sprinkle remaining mozzarella cheese over the top.
Bake
  1. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes.
  2. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  3. Let it cool for 10 minutes before serving.
