Homemade Jam Donut Focaccia

Ingredients
  

Dough
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour plus extra for dusting
  • 1 packet instant yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 3/4 cup warm water about 110°F
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
Filling
  • 1/2 cup jam your choice of flavor, such as raspberry or strawberry
Topping
  • 1 tablespoon powdered sugar for dusting

Method
 

Prepare the Dough
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, yeast, salt, and sugar.
  2. Add warm water and olive oil, then mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let it rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Shape and Fill
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Once risen, punch down the dough and transfer it to a baking tray.
  3. Press the dough out into a rectangle, about 1 inch thick.
  4. Make small indentations in the dough with your fingers, then fill each indentation with jam.
Bake
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  2. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly.
  3. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
