Ingredients
  

Mousse Base
  • 1 cup heavy cream chilled
  • 1/2 cup orange juice freshly squeezed
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest finely grated
  • 1 envelope gelatin unflavored
Topping
  • 1/2 cup whipped cream for garnish
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest for garnish

Method
 

Prepare Gelatin
  1. In a small bowl, sprinkle the gelatin over 2 tablespoons of cold water and let it sit for 5 minutes to bloom.
  2. After blooming, heat the mixture in the microwave for about 10 seconds until dissolved. Set aside.
Make Mousse
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the heavy cream, orange juice, sugar, vanilla extract, and orange zest.
  2. Using a whisk, beat the mixture until soft peaks form.
  3. Gently fold in the dissolved gelatin until fully incorporated.
  4. Spoon the mousse into serving dishes and refrigerate for at least 1 hour to set.
Serve
  1. Once set, top each mousse with whipped cream and a sprinkle of orange zest before serving.
