  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup warm water about 110°F
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
Cinnamon Sugar Topping
  • 1/4 cup sugar

Method

Prepare the Dough
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add flour, salt, and olive oil to the yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Shape the Knots
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Once risen, punch down the dough and divide it into 8 equal pieces.
  3. Roll each piece into a long rope, about 12 inches long, and tie it into a knot.
  4. Place the knots on the prepared baking sheet.
Add Topping and Bake
  1. In a small bowl, mix together sugar and cinnamon for the topping.
  2. Brush the knots with a little olive oil and sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture on top.
  3. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
  4. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
