Ingredients
  

Steak and Marinade
  • 1 lb sirloin steak cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce low sodium preferred
  • 2 tbsp mirin Japanese sweet rice wine
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil for marinade
  • 1 tbsp ginger freshly grated
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
Vegetables
  • 1 cup broccoli florets
  • 1 cup sliced bell peppers any color
  • 1 cup zucchini sliced
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil for cooking
Rice
  • 2 cups jasmine rice or any preferred rice
  • 4 cups water
Garnish
  • 2 tbsp green onions sliced
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds toasted

Method
 

Prepare the Marinade
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine soy sauce, mirin, sesame oil, ginger, and garlic. Mix well.
  2. Add the steak pieces to the marinade and let it sit for at least 15 minutes.
Cook the Rice
  1. Rinse the jasmine rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
  2. In a rice cooker, combine the rinsed rice and water. Cook according to the rice cooker's instructions.
Grill the Steak
  1. Preheat the grill or grill pan over medium-high heat.
  2. Remove the steak from the marinade and grill for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until desired doneness.
Sauté the Vegetables
  1. In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium heat.
  2. Add broccoli, bell peppers, and zucchini. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes until tender-crisp.
Assemble the Bowls
  1. In each bowl, place a serving of rice, top with grilled steak and sautéed vegetables.
  2. Garnish with sliced green onions and toasted sesame seeds before serving.

Notes
